At its Muscle Shoals Minerals plant in Alabama, USA, UCM produces a range of Thermal Barrier Coating (TBC) powders to a wide range of specifications for the aerospace, diesel engine land-based gas turbine industries worldwide. More recent developments include the use of derivatives of such powders for the application of thin films to Solid Oxide Fuel Cells.
MSM produces high quality zirconia TBC powders, stabilised to varying degrees with oxides such as yttria, magnesia and calcia. Standard grades include: -
- Yttria-stabilised (ZY7, ZY8, ZY20)
- Magnesia-stabilised (MZ80)
- Calcia-stabilised (ZC5)
